STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math.
The overarching goal of the NIWC Atlantic STEM Outreach
Program is to collaborate with academia, other government
organizations, local businesses, and professional organizations to
increase STEM interest and literacy in our communities, and to
provide an adequate pipeline of STEM talent that will be required
for the future.
To achieve this goal, NIWC Atlantic volunteers in Charleston,
Hampton Roads, and NOLA participate in a variety of STEM
related pojects that promote STEM learning, with a special focus
on promoting STEM in Elementary, Middle, and High Schools.

Support Robotics programs in local schools, with Robotics programs
in Charleston, Hampton Roads, and New Orleans. Provide mentors
to help guide teams to complete a specified Robotics Project,
culminating in end of season competitions.
Each of these Programs teaches students a variety of skills in:
Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM);
Program Management and Organization;
Creative Thinking, and Teamwork
Provide support to multiple Cyber Security events each year to
promote Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM) to students
throughout the country. During these events, students have the
opportunity to sharpen their skills and promote their learning of
Cyber Security through hands-on activities. Additionally, Cyber events
encourage students to begin thinking about their college career by exposing
them to various degree programs that fall into the Cyber Security spectrum.
